14th Edition of Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival: The Best of the World’s Genre Films
For fans of genre films who would like to keep track of the world’s best performances, Zagreb is again this year the most desirable destination.
Once again, Zagreb will be the most interesting and most desirable destination in the region for fans of Sci-Fi and genre films between 27 June and 7 July this year. This is when the 14th edition of the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival will take place in the beautiful space of Tuškanac Summer Stage and at the Cultural Information Centre. Premieres and cult world titles of science fiction, horror, thriller, fantasy films, black comedy and adventure films, action and animation will be shown at the festival.
This year more than 40 titles by authors from Japan, the US, France, South Korea, Austria, Spain, Norway, Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, and the Philippines will be available to spectators. Several guests-authors from multiple countries are expected to attend.
It is interesting to note that two digitally restored Croatian classics will also be screened at the Festival, H-8 by Nikola Tanhofer from 1958 and Visitors from the Arkana Galaxy by Dušan Vukotić from 1981.
There is also Fantastic Retro, a part of the festival’s programme which brings classics of a genre that are celebrating an important anniversary, for example The Matrix which is celebrating 25th anniversary, a masterpiece by Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window which premiered 70 years ago, a Japanese horror film with a cult status Audition which marks 25 years since its release, and 2010: Odyssey Two which is a sequel of the cult film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
As a part of the industrial programme there is also a three-day 10th European Genre Forum taking place which will welcome participants and experts from Finland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Ukraine, Scotland, Spain, Germany, England and Greece.
