The project Destination: Zagreb is an educational initiative launched by the Zagreb Tourist Board (ZTB) during the school year 2010/2011 under the name Culture of Tourism. As part of the project, ZTB has established cooperation with the Zagreb City Office for Education, Sports and Youth (ZCOE) to emphasize the long-term importance of tourism for Croatia’s capital to its students, teachers and principals of high schools.
The purpose of the project includes the active involvement of high school students in environmental protection programs, improving the quality of life, preserving ethnological, historical and cultural heritage and raising the level of hospitality, with an emphasis on creating a positive welcoming climate.
Through the systematic education of students, ZTB strives to raise awareness of the tourist, cultural and natural potential of the city of Zagreb, and at the same time educate the high school system about these aspects in order to encourage long-term recognition of the importance of one’s own city in a tourist context.
